Basics
I offer life coaching in sessions of forty five minutes to one hour.  These can be carried out over the phone, or face to face, depending on where a client lives.  It is very important that you as the client are comfortable with me as your coach, so any issues are discussed at the first opportunity.  I will provide you with a coaching contract, which is a list of groundrules for the coaching relationship.  These rules are mainly practical and act as a framework on which the coaching realtionship will sit.  The first session will be exploratory for both of us as we start to build a relationship with which to go forward.  The most important thing is that you as a client feel secure, supported, respected and heard during your coaching sessions.

Wheel of Life
If you are not sure where you would like to start with coaching, I will use the Wheel of Life exercise to help you prioritise any issues you may have.  I will ask you to draw a circle and then divide it into eight segments, labelling each one with an aspect of your life which is important to you - for instance - career, family, friends, money etc.  Then using a scale starting at the centre with 1 and finishing at the rim of the wheel with 10, I will ask you to score each of the eight areas.   After you have drawn a line joining the scores together, you look at which are the lowest scores and this can help to focus your mind on what is the most important issue.  This is usually the one we start addressing.

Action Based
Coaching is "action based" which means that generally you will come out of each session with some tasks you have formulated during the discussion.  Coaching is also inspiring - you develop goals and then are able to work towards these, sometimes gradually, until you are able to achieve those goals.  This can take a while, but sometimes you will be able to achieve your aims relatively quickly and then move on to other areas of your life.  Coaching involves the raising of awareness, sometimes of things that when you become aware of them seem so obvious, and it is often at these times of realisation that you feel the empowerment aspect of coaching.
